A New Chapter: Giving Back to Our Community ❤️

Sometimes God begins moving in your life before you completely understand what He is doing.

Over the past several months, our family has walked through seasons of change, loss, growth, uncertainty, and healing. There have been moments when we have questioned what was next and moments when all we could do was put one foot in front of the other and trust that God could see a much bigger picture than we could.

And lately, we are beginning to see little pieces of that picture come together.

Our family has recently started attending a new church, and at the same time, another unexpected opportunity has opened for us to become more involved with the Gouldsboro Recreation Center and our community.

What makes this even more special is that these two new chapters are coming together in the same facility.

Maybe to someone else that sounds like a coincidence.

To us, it feels like God saying, “Here. Start here.”

We Don’t Know Exactly Where This Is Going

And that’s okay.

We don’t have a perfect plan.

We don’t know what everything will look like six months or a year from now.

What we do know is that we feel called to be obedient.

Sometimes obedience isn’t a huge, dramatic moment. Sometimes it’s simply saying yes when God puts an opportunity in front of you.

Yes, we’ll show up.

Yes, we’ll serve.

Yes, we’ll help.

Yes, we’ll love people.

Yes, we’ll try.

And yes, Lord, even when we don’t understand the entire plan, we’ll trust You with the next step.

More Than Sports

We have a heart for creating a place where people feel like they belong.

Of course, recreation can mean sports — soccer, basketball, cheerleading and all of the fun things that bring kids together.

But community can be so much more.

It’s family events.

Holiday celebrations.

Activities for little kids, teenagers, adults and seniors.

It’s creating opportunities for people with disabilities and making sure they know there is a place for them, too.

It’s neighbors sitting together and talking while their kids play.

It’s helping a family who might be struggling.

It’s checking on someone who’s alone.

It’s laughing together, eating together, celebrating together and sometimes even crying together.

It’s doing life together.

That’s the kind of community we hope to help build.

Everyone Has Something to Offer

You don’t have to have a lot of money.

You don’t have to have a special title.

You don’t have to sit on a committee.

You don’t even have to know exactly how you can help yet.

Sometimes building a community starts with something as simple as showing up.

Maybe you have an idea.

Maybe you can coach.

Maybe you can bake something for an event.

Maybe you have sports equipment your children have outgrown.

Maybe you’re wonderful with children.

Maybe you’re great with seniors.

Maybe you’re creative.

Maybe you’re the person who notices the child sitting by themselves and invites them to join.

There is room for everyone.

And that’s exactly what we hope this next chapter becomes.

Faith. Family. Community.

Those three words have always been at the heart of Heaven Bound Homestead Creations.

This business began around our kitchen table, our family, our animals, our faith, our crazy life and a desire to create things that meant something.

But maybe God never intended for “creating” to only mean shirts, signs, tumblers and handmade items.

Maybe creating also means creating relationships.

Creating opportunities.

Creating memories.

Creating a place where a child feels included.

Creating a reason for a lonely neighbor to leave the house.

Creating traditions our children will someday tell their own children about.

Creating a community that takes care of its people.

And maybe this is simply the next way God is asking our family to create.

We’re Just Saying Yes

We don’t want to make this about us.

Because it isn’t.

It’s about our community.

It’s about our children.

It’s about our neighbors.

It’s about our church family.

It’s about making sure people of different ages, backgrounds and abilities know that they matter and that they are welcome.

Most importantly, it’s about following where we believe God is leading.

We aren’t entering this season believing we have all the answers.

We’re entering it with open hands.

God, use us however You see fit.

If that means organizing an event, we’ll organize.

If it means cleaning up afterward, we’ll clean.

If it means listening to someone’s idea, we’ll listen.

If it means sitting beside someone who just needs a friend, we’ll sit.

We simply want to be available.

Because sometimes changing a community doesn’t begin with some enormous plan.

Sometimes it begins with a family saying:

“Here we are, Lord. Use us.”

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15

This is a new season for our family, for Heaven Bound Homestead Creations, and hopefully for our little community as well.

We don’t know exactly what God has planned.

But we know He’s moving.

And we’re excited to see where He leads us next.

Faith. Family. Community.

One small act of obedience at a time. ❤️
